Kirby's Epic Yarn Review time!

So let's have some kind of a backstory here .. When I was younger, I really loved videogames but rarely did I play them myself, firstly because I had an older brother that claimed that our consoles were his, and secondly because, being older, he was obviously better than me and that was frustrating. So for the most part I only watched people playing videogames because I thought I sucked. Obviously that is no longer the case, thankfully. Still, there were two game series that I never, ever stopped playing in my entire life. The first one is Pokémon, and the second one is Kirby.

So, Kirby. I love those games to death, not a fan of platformers usually but the Kirby games are so bright and fun and overall, well, easier. [depends though, Sakurai likes having hard boss fights so while the stages are easy the bosses aren't always so] So yeah, I played pretty much every regular Kirby game [not the spin-offs, they kind of suck imo] and I loved them all. Obviously when I learned that there would be, finally, a Kirby game for the Wii, I was really excited. I was thinking they'd do a game similar to Kirby 64, in sorta half-3D, or a completely 3D game. So when I learned that it was going to be a regular platformer, I was kinda disappointed.

However the previews were promising. The graphic was extremely pleasing and original, and the guys at E3 that tried the game said it was good. And since it was a Kirby game and I'm a huge fan, I couldn't actually hate it. So here's my review of the game. I'll try to be objective but I'm not promising much, for all of the reasons stated above. Also bear in mind that I haven't finished the game yet so I haven't seen everything.

So the story starts with Kirby taking a stroll or whatever in peaceful Dreamland, when suddenly!! an evil wizard called Yin-Yarn [that transforms stuff into yarn] sends him into Patchland, which is a land made of Yarn and other various fabrics. There he meets Prince Fluffy, who is a blue kirby-like creature with brows and a crown. Prince Fluffy tells Kirby that Patchland has been torn a part by Yin-Yarn and Kirby, being Kirby, decides to help the Prince to stitch the kingdom back together.

As you can story, the story is, well .. childish, to say the least. However that's pretty much the case of every kirby game and honestly, who the hell plays these games for their stories? They're just there to form a sort of plot behind the gameplay, that's all. So while the backstory of the game is a little lacking, I don't think it's really that much of a problem.

Onto the main part [in my opinion] : the gameplay. It plays like any normal platformer : a d-pad, a button to jump and a button to attack. Simple and effective. Now my main concern with the gameplay, prior to actually playing the game, was the wiimote. You see, to play the game, you hold the wiimote sideways. I thought it would be weird and unpractical, but no. You don't actually use the A and B buttons, but the 1 and 2, so it feels like any other controller.

Also, in this game, Kirby lose his inhale/copy power ability. It's a bit of a shame because it was something that I really liked, exploring the different possibilities of the different powers and combos [like in Crystal Shards or the Dreamland serie with the animals] However this is replaced by some parts of the stages transforming Kirby into some kind of vehicle [like a firetruck or a sort of rally car]. You get transformed into a firetruck during a fire stage, for example, and then have to extinguish fires before they can burn you. I'm really explaining this badly, my english kinda sucks tonight.

Anyway, some of these transformations are rather nice and entertaining and others are just kinda annoying, but I guess it depends on everyone. Oh yeah, another change in the gameplay is that you no longer have ''hitpoints'. If you run out of beads, you don't actually die, there's no game over. The thing is that you get a score from how many beads you have when you finish the stage, so the less you get hit and the more you collect beads, the highest score you'll get. I think it's a good idea because that way, everyone can play the game and beat it without it being extremely frustrating. However, it alsos leaves place for challenge : you wanna have the highest score possible. So a gamer that wants some challenge will have some, since you lose a rather large amount of beads whenever you get hit.

Furthermore, each stage has 3 hidden items that you can find. Some of them are more hidden than others of course, and it's quite fun to try and get them all. Reminds me a bit of The Great Cave Offensive of Super Star. There are also some minigames but I'm not gonna talk about them since they aren't that relevant and I'm pretty sure you aren't obligated to them at all.

This review is getting way longer than I expected. Anyway, we're gonna talking about the graphics! Now, I'm not that much of a fan of the super-realistic graphics trend that's been going on lately. Sure, FFXIII looks really great and all, but I want my videogames to look like, well, videogames. Not reality. I also really love it when they try to find an interesting style for the game's graphics, instead of just being OH HEY LOOK HOW REALISTIC WE ARE [by the way guys you'll need a HD tv to fully appreciate this, lulz] To me, games with graphics like Okami, for instance, are just as breathtaking, if not more, than uber-realistic games. But I digress.

Like every other kirby game, the graphics are very colourful and cute. Everything looks like it's really made from cloth, and mostly everything is so imaginative. The ''fabric concept'' actually takes a part in the gameplay : you swing kirby accross pits by tying him to some buttons, etc. It's really nice. You can often interact with the background but pulling threads and unzipping things. Plus, like I said, some of the stages are just so damn cute! The Sweet Park one reminds me of an Angelic Pretty print, and I wish I could find pictures of it right now, dammit! Anyway, pretty much every stage is some kind of eye-candy, none of them are boring looking.

The only thing that I don't like so much about the game is the music. It's not bad, it's just not .. energetic enough for me. It fits well with the rest of the game though, I guess I was just expecting some cheery music like Green Greens.

So, for TL;DR people : if you like platformers or are a Kirby fan : this is for you! If you're unsure about the game, give it a try, it's a good one. Finally, if you do not like platformers at all, or if you think Kirby is cheesy, well, it will probably not be for you. I think it's still worth a try though, the game is pretty easy is you don't mind getting a high score so it's not frustrating, and hell, my brother and his bunch of friends love it! And they're all 20s something grown men! You won't be emasculated from playing this game I promise! And in any case, it will never be as bad as Robot Unicorn Attack.

Sooo that's about it. I apologize for the overly long review. I gotta say I write these mostly for myself, they're a great english practise I think. It's also rather fun to think about what I like and don't like about a game, a book or a movie. I prefer doing game reviews though, since I feel like I can comment better about the gameplay and all, as opposed to criticising someone's writing style or something. [Also lately I mostly read classics and I don't think I'm up to the challenge of making a review of War and Peace and Les Misérables haha]

FFf GOTTA STOP TYPIIIING I love typing on my netbook since I haven't fucked up the keyboard yet~ I somehow tend to fuck up beyond repair every keyboard I can lay my hands on for a while. It's because I type very fast and uh, furiously. I'm not always like this but when I'm having an interesting conversation with someone on msn you can literally hear me typing at the other side of the house. I'm not really conscious of this either, I'm not doing it on purpose. So yeah, beware, little keyboards .. :B

Well..

Long time no see. Obviously, I've been too busy celebrating Christmas and then being lazy to update. But now I have nothing to do, so .. :B

I don't really have anything to say about Christmas Eve since everything went pretty much like always. My brother and his girlfriend came home in the afternoon and we all took a stroll in the forest with snowshoes .. haha snowshoes, it sounds so weird in english xD Anyway. We played a quiz game in the evening and I won of course :B

Now, to the most interesting part : unwrapping the gifts! I gave a book to my dad, some eau de toilette to my mom, tea to my brother's girlfriend and a DS game to my brother [Scribblenauts]. As for me, here's what I got :

A nice pocketwatch from my brother! It's really awesome and nicely made too. However I guess it's kinda fragile since it was rather unexpensive so I'll have to take care of it.

A prussian flag from my brother's girlfriend! This is totally unexpected XD It's really huge too .. Anyway, as you may or may not know, my dream cosplay right now is war of Austrian succession Prussia. Having received this flag really motivates me to actually try and do it, even though I do not look like the perfect Prussia and all.

Also, I got a sewing machine! Unexpected also, my mom didn't seem very enthusiastic when I was telling her I wanted to learn how to sew and all. Anyway, now I'll actually be able to make my own cosplays and clothes! Well, I hope so. For now I've only made a small Alice bow. But I guess it's not to bad since before that I had never even touched a damn sewing machine xD So I kinda had to figure how it worked on my own since my mom doesn't know how either.

But this is definitely the most awesome gift .. the one that really makes me feel way too spoiled ..
I GOT A NETBOOK! It was on my christmas list but I didn't really think I'd get one. Seriously .. my parents are crazy XD I'm so glad though, I love it! I'm actually using it right now haha. I can't wait to bring it to school XD.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot that I also got Kirby's Epic Yarn! I think I'll do a small review soon, I need to praise this game.

Last thing before I leave : I finished the first tome of War and Peace! Go me! I started the second tome yesterday. All I can say for now is WHAT THE HELL NATACHA Prince André is way better than that Anatole Kouraguine! Also, Napoléon, don't you dare eradicate Prussia from Europe! You won't succeed! XD Aaand that's it.

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas! And if that wasn't the case, well, I hope you'll have some fun soon!

Fun times ahead!

So! It's about time for an update! I've been way too busy with school in the past weeks but now, it's over. I'm glad. It was my most awesome semester so far though, thanks to all the great friends I've made. Thank you.

Moving on, now it's Christmas Vacations, so it's time to have some fun! So, let's talk about geeky stuff. Yesterday I finally watched the first episode of Panty&Stocking with Garterbelt [it's an anime, not exactly about actual panties, lol] and .. I like it. Wtf, self? I thought you hated crude humor? But yeah, somehow I find this anime really funny. I like the art style too, it's refreshing, and the animation is slick. It makes me want to cosplay Stocking XD I really like her.

Talking about crude things. Yesterday I decided to buy No More Heroes, after a lot of hesitation. It was on sale though. So, I stating playing and .. What the hell xD It's so funny and so .. random .. anyway. The only thing I don't like is that the camera is a bit wonky and controls are a bit weird sometimes .. but that's about it. I like the game so far.

Anyway, today I have a lot of chores to do so I'll make a better update later.

A mixture of good and bad ..

There's less than a week and a half left of school .. but I'm not feeling it, there's still so much to do. I'm looking forward to the vacations, though I know I'll miss everyone :\ I hate living so far away.

Anyway .. right now I kinda feel like I fail at being a good friend .. I'm sorry I can never find the right words at the right time, and I always end up saying something stupid. I wish I could make everyone happy but I guess that's not possible, especially if I'm unhappy myself. So let's fake a smile and go on.

Yesterday I went to get my hair dyed .. kinda disappointed with the result as it's way too dark for my taste but it's not too bad either. I also bought some clothes, and my mom paid! Awesome! So I got new pants, a new jacket [black obviously, it's made in corduroy] and three new shirts [black one with short sleeves, black one with long sleeves and white one with long sleeves]. Everyone was rather unexpensive so it's nice.

Also, I got my wig! At first I was a bit disappointed, the color isn't as golden yellow as I thought it would be and it was styled weirdly. But I wore it again today and now I really like it xD It just needs some styling and I'll have to cut the bangs.

Here's a pic :

As you can see the bands are getting in my eyes 'cause they are too long. I'm also wearing one of my new shirts \o/.

Aaand that's about it. I forgot to mention something cool that I bought yesterday but that'll wait for next time.

Eh..

I just read this article about Aoi from Gazette's tweet about Vocaloids.

Basically, he said that Vocaloid weren't real artists [obviously], and that music made with the Vocaloid software wan't equal to music made with real singers. However he deleted the tweet and apologized to Vocaloid fans, and even went as far as to buy the Hatsune Miku software.

I understand perfectly what he means, especially since, in the music business, he has right to be worried that virtual idols are ''taking over'' the industry. And he's obviously not the only one that thinks like that. Still, I think most people forget one important thing : even though the singers aren't real, the producers who make the music, the lyrics, and the people who make the animations/drawings/etc are, and it's insulting to them if we say that their work isn't good enough to be considered art just because there is no real singer.

Honestly, some Vocaloid producers are full of talents and they deserve praise as much as every other musician or singer. In my opinion, it's better to make your own music, write your own lyrics, and tune the goddamn Vocaloid yourself, than being a brainless singer that doesn't compose his or her own music and merely interprets it [obviously I am not talking about Aoi here, it's just a reference to the mainstream music scene]

Anyway, it's perfectly fine to not like Vocaloid, but saying that it isn't real music because the singer is virtual is a pretty stupid reason, and the people who claim that usually don't know shit about the Vocaloid scene.

Music post! And this time, it's not about Vocaloid.

So, in case you do not know, I actually listen to other stuff than Vocaloid, like video game music and such. I also really love that type of music that is sometimes called Classical Sound or Neo-Classic, such as Sound Horizon, Yousei Teikoku, ALI Project, Asriel, etc. Well I finally discovered a few other bands!

The first one is Rokugen Alice. As per usual with these kind of bands, the singer is female and has a very nice voice. Actually, I think her voice might please more people than, say, Asriel's singer voice which is very original. Anna Sakurai's voice is less high than most other japanese singers, and she is very versatile. For now I only downloaded their cd Alice in the Necrosis, which is really good~ Here is the first song, Metamorphose :

As you can see, their music is, overall, softer than Asriel [which is more rock or metal in my opinion] and calmer than ALI Project [their songs are really over the top usually xD] It's still very good.

The next band is Alieson! Again, a female singer, whose voice is pretty high. She sounds very cute in my opinion xD. Anyway, I downloaded the cd Black Ribbon, and I'm listening to it right now. So far, it reminds me a lot of Asriel, which is good~ Here is the song Ghost :

I really like these kinds of song, they sound so epic xD

The other band I listened is Love Solfege, apparently they're somewhat of a must-know band in the classical sound scene. I have yet to download a cd though, so I won't talk about it right now xD

Soon ...

.. I think I'll try to order from Taobao. I really really really want this coat :

It's just so awesome .. Also maybe it would work well for my Ciel cosplay, but I mostly want it for everyday life. I think the vest part is included too. Anyway, it's awesome and I want it. The thing is .. I'm scared to order from Taobao, even with a shopping service. Everything is in chinese and I'm scared of getting the wrong size or something. Fortunately, this coat is also on Qutieland where they put the measurements in english. I thought of actually ordering it from Qutieland but it's way more expensive. From Infanta, the Taobao shop, it's about 65$ [canadian], while on Qutieland it's 89$ [american]. Waaaay overpriced, especially considering it's not even a proper coat for canadian weather.

So, Taobao it is! I just need to save up a bit .. After all, I just ordered a Link wig and christmas is coming .. Anyway, I think I'll order these socks too :

Yay for royalty symbols on socks! They're only about 3$, and I thought I might as well order two items instead of just ones. There's a lot of pretty clothes I wanted too but since the coat is already kinda expensive I'm just gonna buy these socks.

... I wish I were rich D:

Harry Potter?

Damn right, Harry Potter. I went to see it yesterday with friends from school.

So, my last class of the day was history of science .. It was, well, boring. We had a mini test like always, but I hadn't had the time to read the text it was about so my answers to the three questions went like this :
1. Frederick II of Prussia
2. Otto von Bismarck
3. Darwin proved that the Prussians were indeed a superior race.

[I received today a message from the teacher, asking me : Is Prussia your favourite subject? Haha, damn right it is.]

So yeah, afterwards we had to wait for the others, since they had a class until 4:30 and we had finished at 2:30. It was long, and I was hungry, but then eventually arrived and we went ONWARD! TO THE RESTAURANT! Like awesome prussian warriors, lol.

Anyway, fast fowarding .. At the movie theatre we had to wait outside, even though we had bought our tickets beforehand :\ That kinda sucked. Me and one of my friends kinda stood out, since we had decided to dress like victorian aristocrats xD Some people seemed kinda scared lolwtf Maybe because I was wearing my mini tophat that sits on my head magically.

So yeah, after waiting and having bought important supplies like Skittles and M&M, we took seat in the theather, and the movie began.

REVIEW TIME!

Is what I'd like to say, but .. First of all, I don't really want to spoil anything, go watch it and make your own impressions. But mostly it's because I'm still unsure about whether I liked it or not. And also because I had to go see it in french and UUHH the dub it's so horrible. But yeah, what I can say is that, most of it is pretty similar to the book, they did a good job with that. Also, the part when they infiltrate the ministry is hilarious XD However, there was a lot of rather long and boring parts .. I know the book is a bit like that too, but it doesn't work as well in a movie I guess. Oh yeah, and there is a soft-porn-ish scene with Harry and Hermione. It was weird, to say the least.

So yeah, I still recommend you all to go and see the movie! Some people really disliked it, and some others really liked it, so I guess it really depends. Go and make your own opinion.

So now, enough talk about Harry Potter, and more talk about Prussia. I know I seem kind of obssessed right now .. and I am! Honestly, I first started to like Prussia because I liked the Hetalia character, but now .. I really like Prussia for what it is. And Frederick the Great is really awesome. I wish the politicians right now were more like him.

ANYWAY I'll post his before my internet dies again.

I hate today.

During the week-ends, I like to relax, to have time to do my homeworks, and also to play some games and to do nothing intelligent on the internet. Especially since I have a killer week coming.

But of course, my mom decided to invite over a bunch of people tonight. So, since it's soooo fucking important [no], we have to clean every goddamn place in the house, and she has to keep bugging me to do this and that. Okay fine, I've got nothing against helping people, I just don't like being ordered around when I don't even want to see these people in the first place. I'm not the one who invited them. I don't care if the house is messy or not.

So, yeah. I can't wait to go to Montréal now .. I can't stand my mom for long periods of time now. She's just so bossy and stressed during the weekends, when I just want to relax [but of course, I don't work and I only go to school so I already have plenty of time to relax .. nevermind the fact that I'm in the program with the most work in college :\]

I know I ALWAYS complain about this .. I'm sorry.

On another note, I decided to download Preussens Gloria, the prussian military march XD It's absolutely awesome of course. I also wanted the unofficial prussian anthem, Preussenlieb, but I can't find a good quality mp3/video on youtube. It sucks, but it's understandable since, you know, prussia doesn't exist anymore it's too awesome to be recorded properly.

Talking about Prussia, at school I'm starting to endoctrinate people about how Prussia is awesome xD It's cool cause now I have an ally .. that is a Wilhem II fanboy [Wilhem II is prussian if you didn't know]. Actually I think I already talked about that guy, he dressed as Wilhem II for our Halloween party. But yeah, soon everyone shall know about the gloriousness of Prussia!

Also, another one of my friend talked about a LARP [live-action role-play, GN in french] taking place in like .. the 18th century. I SO WANT TO GO AND HAVE A PRUSSIAN ARMY FFFFF. So yeah maybemaybemaybe we'll go. If we can get a decent amount of people with us we're gonna kick everyone's ass with our prussian awesomeness. The thing is, first we need costumes .. and we need arms. Not so complicated when talking about a normal LARP, swords and such aren't too hard to make. But in this particular one we need firearms [fake ones mind you XD] and these are a bit thougher to make. I'd also want a saber or rapier too.

Anyway .. I'm off doing boring chores .. Wish me luck.

Thursday, November 11, 2010

Well, I've been feeling kind of meh this week :\ Nothing too bad, but nothing too good either. I don't really feel like doing anything. Especially not schoolwork -_____- But there's just so much we have to do wbnfjesngfwrj I must not think about it or I'll go crazy.

I still decided to dress up tuesday .. I took a picture :

Sucky camera is sucky. And I look kind of fat o_O Anyway. It's not really lolita or anything, the theme was ''british''. Not sure if it worked .. But I like it xD I wish I had more steampunk-esque accessories.

Other than that .. Not much. I called to schedule my damn driving classes. These classes are a laugh .. I'm really bad :\, and the neverending hours of theory are given by someone who clearly isn't meant to be a teacher. I hate it. And just thinking about the exam makes me nervous. Go me. At this rate I'm never going to be able to drive .. Okay, let's stop the negative thinking already.

..................... I was about to write more but then everyone on facebook wanted to talk to me all at once so fuck that xD I'm going to bed now.

guysguysguys

So, one of my friend keeps telling me that she's gonna marry one of the guys from Super Junior [you know, once we go to Japan and then jump over to Korea]

Well, you know who the hell I'm going to marry?

That's right, MACHIGERITA-P.

Bet you didn't expect that uh?

The thing is, earlier today I was telling myself how all of his songs are awesome [I absolutely adore his new Kaito song NWENFIEWNG so fucking good] and how he must be pretty damn fucked-up, judging by the weird lyrics he writes .. Fucked-up in a good sense mind you.

So yeah, somehow I ended up finding his website and there was a pic of him ..

AND THEN, IT WAS LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT. That's the story I'm going to tell to our children in a few years [what the hell I don't even want kids]. But yeah, he's 19 .. that surprised me. He's just a few months older than me. A TRUE LOVE SIGN I'M TELLING YOU. Aw anyway, I'm probably one of the only person that finds him cute as hell .. I mean, he pretty much looks like a four-eyed-nerdy-emo-asian-dude.

Haha so yeah .. don't mind me .. I had a bad day and I just wanted to be stupid for a few minutes .. I'm still in love with machige though! Just watch me and wait a few years! hurhurr

/kazumi

[OH YEAH ALSO he made a uttatemita for Matryoshka, I downloaded it and it's so so cute I adore his voice .. well, it's not that good but he sounds like he's really trying ~ aww]

DRRR

Yeah .. I just finished Durarara!! .. Could've finished it a few weeks ago but I didn't want to .. I hate it when series that I love come to an end .. I guess I could read the books though! And I'll probably rewatch the anime soon.

Anyway .. I need to say it .. Izaya .. you're the biggest jerk ever but damn it, I love you D: Why so awesome?? Ugh, I always end up loving the jerkass characters .. What the hell, me? Seems like I'm not the only one though xD Izaya's got a pretty large fanbase.

So yeah .. I'll go over there and be a fangirl in peace .. And to the rest of you .. Go watch DRRR!! already!!

/kazumi

Urg ..

La Carmina annoys me so fucking much .. I mean, don't start a blog about fashion if you haven't got the slightest idea on how to dress properly. Honestly, I can't believe that after so much time spent in Japan [where you can see all the street fashion IRL and buy the damn clothes], she still can't coord a single nice outfit. Heck, she even manages to make beautiful clothes look fugly. Most of her brand stuff is pretty but I've yet to see her wear it in a decent way.

And the excuse of being ~*~alternative~*~ doesn't stand here .. There's plenty of way to be original and true to yourself without looking like your closet threw up on you. Plus, she's getting so much recognition for her ''''fashion style''''' .. kinda makes me ashamed to be into japanese fashion as well :\

The sad thing is that I don't actually hate her or her blog. Once in a while she documents pretty interesting stuff and she's a decent writer. I just wish she would improve already with her damn clothes. Though I guess it must be difficult to do so, when almost all of her friends are just as bad looking .. especially that .. thing .. ''Yukiro'' .. come on, learn to put on makeup properly .. cheap eyeliner all over the face =/= good and original makeup.

[also, La Carmina and the Pirates .. come on, just admit it already, you've stole that name from Alice and the Pirates .. wow, way to be original and alternative uh? In America, I'm pretty sure you'd get sued for taking a name so similar for your company]

Yeah I know, random post is random.

/kazumi

[for those who don't know who the hell I'm talking about .. just google her name. I don't wanna link her on my blog]

Pff

.. The day isn't halfway done and I'm already tired. Anyway, today was the only time of the week I could get my cat to the veterinary. So we went at about 1pm, but it turned out that the vet wasn't there -_- Let me explain : there's only one vet. for 3 towns [Windsor, Asbestos and Richmond] so even if a clinic is open, it isn't guaranteed that she'll be there.

Fortunately, we learned that there was another vet. in the area so we went to see him instead. There were a lot of pets in the small clinic xD There was even a fluffy white cat :B So cute. Anyway, now we have some antibiotics for my cat .. let's hope that she gets better soon.

So yeah, two hours later I'm back home and I'm enjoying a nice cup of Earl Grey. With cookies. [tea + sweets = awesomness] And I'm listening to Super Junior XD One of my friend is a huge fan .. So it's starting to rub off on me! I like No Other and Bonamana a lot. And Leeteuk is cute. [but nothing shall beat Vocaloid and Sound Horizon in my heart!]

And now I need to work on some school stuff .. I don't feel like it :\ Wish me luck.

hurhur

I just logged in Poupéegirl and, lo and behold! I have 213 ribbons .. where the hell do they come from? XD Last night I had like .. 150? Anyway .. maybe I had more and I didn't notice.

So .. yesterday one of my friend came here and we watched How to train you dragon. It's pretty good actually! And I like Vkings, haha .. So that's always a plus. Even though, they didn't really have horns on their helmets! I know it's just a movie but this misconception is so common it's starting to annoy me xD I know horns on helmets sounds pretty awesome but in reality the horns were used for drinking.

She had brought her FMA:B dvds and I wanted to burn them but I couldn't, they were protected .. I wish my brother had been here, he could have helped me I'm sure xD But as it is I'm not and expert on this stuff so I gave up. Instead I burned her Baccano!, because it's absolutely awesome. Next on the list is Darker than black and Durarara!! .. and Death Note .. And maybe Code Geass, but I don't know if she's interested in those .. whatever Code Geass is awesome so it's a must watch.

I'm starting to overuse the word awesome here .. Anyway, after the movie we decided to go eat at a restaurant in Sherbrooke, since I had un-awesome driving class at 7pm. So yeah .. we talked a lot about what we're going to do next year. I can't wait .. I'm sure it's gonna be, well, awesome. And I don't care if I sound like a wapanese by going in East-Asian Studies .. it's really something I like since I'm a kid, and not just because of anime desu desu.

Well, that's about it .. \o/

There and back again.

Sooo, yesterday we had a trip to Montréal city organised by the school .. Basically, the day can be summarized like this :
- wake up at 6am after not having slept thanks to the awesomeness of Shin Megami Tensei, arrive at school at 8am, and immediately leave for Montréal in the bus.

- Play MegaTen on my DS for the whole trip, while making innapropriate comments on the game, especially on the poor demon Astaroth .. can't help it if it's a naked dude with a viking-like helmet on a snake, and that he kept on dying ..

- Arrive at Montréal after two hours, and look like goddamned tourists while we walk towards the first museum, the Redpath museum. It's one of the oldest museum in Canada and it was pretty interesting and varied. Fossils, dinosaurs, minerals, dead animals, mummies, you name it they have it. Even a samurai armour! Awesome.

- Leave the first museum, towards the museum of Beaux-arts .. Honestly I don't know how to translate this. Fine Arts? Anyway. It's more french and awesome to say Beaux-Arts. The exposition was about Otto Dix, which is a german artist, during the WW1-WW2 era. I liked it. Lost of mutilated corpses and naked old prostitutes, what's not to love? Actually I didn't like too much the prostitute part but the rest was nice. We had a lot of time to kill afterwards so we went to see the permanent collection, there's an interesting section about Napoleon, where they have Napoléon's hat and one of his boots. Oh yeah that's were we ate too, in case you were wondering.

- Leave that museum and go to the last one, the McCord Museum. It's about Canadian history. So yeah obviously by that time we were pretty tired, so it was a bore, we even had a tour guide .. that wouldn't stop talking .. even though she was intestesting, we barely had the time to even look at the artifacts [even though we had a lot of fun playing a game of table hockey .. yeah we're canadian all right it seems :\]

- Finally, we could go back to Sherbrooke! I played MegaTen again .. while eating my supper [an apple and a granola bar .. awesome, I know]

- And then I was hoooome [well, almost] and there was much joy and much persona 3 playing. [actually not that much since I was tired and went to bed early]

Well, that's it. I still gotta talk about today, but I'll do that tomorrow :B

Nazi loli?

Well, if you are into lolita fashion, you probably saw Metamorphose's new collection : D.walkure. As the name suggests, it's a collection inspired by army uniforms in general, as there are no emblems to be seen exept the Metamorphose one.

You can see the collection here. Why am I linking you to the japanese website? Well, it's because the collection has been taken off from the english website. How come? Apparently, some people complained that it was too ''nazi-like''. Now, of course it is nazi-like. It's also british-army like, and french army like, american army like and name-a-fucking-army like. BECAUSE IT'S ARMY INSPIRED. Honestly guys, stop seeing nazis everywhere .. And then try to hide them. Yes, nazis existed, yes they did horrible things, but there's no need to demand that a fashion brand takes off their clothes from their website because it somewhat looks nazi, even though we can't see any swastikas.

I think some people complained about the eagle, which, as you know, is another symbol that has been used by the nazi army. Well, newsflash : the eagle as been used as a symbol of power by pretty much every empire, ever. The roman empire, the prussians, the austrians, hell, the AMERICANS. So yeah, no big deal with the eagle, it's a common symbol and doesn't not represent exclusively the nazis.

I don't even know why it bothers me so much. In any case, I think it's pretty stupid to demand that the brand takes off the clothes from the english website just because some people were offended. If you don't like it, don't buy it, that's all. Especially since it wasn't more nazi than any other army-inspired outfits.

Anyway, I'll end my rant now .. real post about my life later :B

Pumpkin!

Ta-da-da-daah! Junpei has leveled up! That's the pumpkin that I carved today. A bit late, I know, but I hadn't had the time before. I'm kinda proud of it, it looks nice and it only tooks me about half an hour xD I wish I could find the picture of last year's pumpkin though .. It was Zelda themed, and I was sooo proud of it haha.

Uh, yeah, that's about it.

Happy Halloween, ha ha ha ha

Happy Halloween! Even though it doesn't really look like Halloween here, with all the snow .. I'm glad I'm not going trick or treating tonight, since it's so cold.

On another note, I'm currently reading Brave New World, and it's pretty good so far. If you liked 1984, you might like this one too, as it's sorta similar. I think I like Brave New World better though. 1984 was good but somehow I also found it very depressing, and the society wasn't exactly as .. elaborate as the one presented in Brave New World. Anyway, after that I'll have to continue reading War and peace .. Because once school starts again I definitely won't have the time to do so.

Makes me think, I should also try and take some new pictures of myself :\ It's been a while, the most recent ones I have date from when I still had blonde hair, which is .. 3 months ago. Maybe I'll wait until I get my Bodyline stuff :B

[No, I didn't have anything interesting to say, I just wanted to make a post for Halloween xD]

aah mrs. pumpkin.

Yesterday, we had a Halloween Party at school. I had decided to dress up as a british boy from the victorian era, or, more exactly, as Ciel Phantomhive [without the wig and the awesome shirt that I shall buy eventually]. So yeah, I got a lot a compliments, especially for my mini hat.

Otherwise the party itself .. was okay. I'm not the party type really :\ I mean, we had free food, which is ALWAYS good, but yeah, I mostly talked with the same 3-4 persons. I'm glad I went though, it was fun to see everyone's costume. Some were way awesome, like the guy that dressed as Wilhem II [sounds so weird to call him that, since in french is name is Guillaume II, but oh well] Anyway if you don't know who that is [and I bet you don't], it's the german emperor that was in charge during World War 1. I should have dressed as Frederick the Great, dammit!

Since today was the last day of school before Halloween, I decided to dress up as ''Ciel'' again. There were a few others people that were dressed up as well, which was nice. A lot of random people told me they liked my hat XD I guess I should wear it more often ..

Anyway, I'm happy now since I have an entire week of holiday to look forward! I really needed that break .. I was getting more and more tired everyday. It also means that the semester is halfway done, which is good because I'm actually looking forward to university. Speaking of which, some guy told me that I should try to go to McGill University .. That'd be pretty awesome actually .. But, it's a bit too expensive for me, even though I could get a scholarship, since I have pretty good marks. Still, I think it'll wait for after my bachelor's degree.

And thaaat's about it. Tomorrow I'll carve a pumpkin and get in the mood for Halloween! I should search for more Halloween-esque songs .. Right now I'm listening to Hatsune Miku's Mrs. Pumpkin's Funny Dream, which is an awesome song with a very creepy tone.

Uuuh that's about it!

Burn my dread

So, I have received Persona 3 yesterday! I've been playing it a bunch since then xD I'm starting to really like it .. At first I wasn't so sure because it's kind of overwhelming, there's so many things to do. But yeah, now I'm at level 7, I also joined the kendo team and became friend with Kaz and Yuko. I have also started social links with the student council and that guy that always eats ramen. It's kinda hard though, I'm scared of saying something that will screw up my social link xD And honestly, I'm not used to guys asking me : What kind of girls do you like? So I don't know what to answer haha.

[I realize this talk is kinda boring for people who haven't played Persona 3 but bear with it xD]

So yeah, haven't really studied or hanged out yet, so I'm still a plain, timid slacker. Can't wait to be some kinda super courageous and smart hot guy. Hell yeah!

Uh, what else .. Tomorrow evening I gotta stay at school because there's a meeting for the upcoming trip in Europe. I still don't know if I'm going to go because none of my friends are going .. It's a good opportunity though .. Anyway, we'll see.

Thursday I'll also stay at school because we have a Halloween party [just for us in History]. We have to get a costume of something related to history, so I'll wear my unfinished Ciel Phantomhive cosplay and be pseudo-victorian haha. One of my friend will be disguised as an english dandy, and another one will have a dress similar to the one during the time of Regency era in Britain, so we'll kinda fit together!

Anyway .. what I really can't wait for is the week of holiday starting next monday. I'll be able to rest, finally! And play Persona 3 and FFXII. And do homeworks .. godammit D:

So, that's about it.

Nekobot is here!

Well, now that Sanrio's Vocaloid, Iroha Nekomura, has been out for 2 days, I've finally decided to give her a chance. The result? OMG HER VOICE IS AWESOME. It doesn't fit at all with her appearance though xD I mean, she looks younger than 10 years old, why the hell is her voice sounding so deep?

Still, her voice is pretty, and sounds kinda tomboy-ish so it's cute. In any case, I like her better than Lily because at least she sounds different while Lily .. doesn't. [though I love her song +REVERSE, I think it's the first Lily song that sounds so good!]

Now .. I just need to find more Iroha songs and download some Miki ones because I don't have a single one! What the hell, self. She's so cute and you're blatantly ignoring her! I know, I fail.

Anyway, now the only thing I hope about Vocaloids is that someone decides to release a guy Vocaloid who doesn't sound weird and robotic. I mean, I love Len and Gakupo but they always sounds slightly more robotic than the girls. Maybe it's just me though. But yeah, another guy would be nice, especially since I can't stand Kaito's voice :\ The only Kaito song I like is the Machigerita-P one, Starry Sky Ether Gazer, but that's no surprise 'cause I love pretty much anything by Machige.

Well, that's about it! Now go and listen to this awesome Nekobot song Neko Neko ☆ Super Fever Night

Last Revolver

That song .. It's been stuck in my head for all week now! The worst part is that I didn't really like it at first, but now I can't stop listening to it ♪ I really like the lyrics too .. I mean, who doesn't love a song about a girl killing the guy she loves, and then apologizing because she won't be able to go to the summer festival with him?

Hm, with that song and my blog's background, I really look like a GUMI fangirl xD Which I am not, even though she is one of my favourite vocaloid.

Anyway, I finished photoshopping the pictures I took for my Photography class. They're pretty nice, I think. The thing is, there's 6 pictures that I really like, and I need to choose only 3 :\ So when my choice will be made I'll post them here! Or I guess that I could post all 6 of them and then ask people for the ones they prefer .. Yeah, that's a good idea too. I'll think about it.

So much games, so little time!

Damn it, there's just so many games that I've got to play right now .. Just on the Wii and GC, I gotta finish Rune Factory Frontier, and also Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. And then, I have to buy Arc Rise Fantasia, as well as Kirby's Epic Yarn. And then there's going to be Zelda Skyward Sword, hopefully in the beginning of 2011 ♪

And for the ps2 .. There's even more, obviously. Right now I'm still playing FFXII, don't know if I'm getting towards the end or not. I played about 50 hours though so I guess I've passed the middle of the game. Still, I bought Persona 3 on ebay the other day, so as soon as I receive it, I'll have to finish FXII really fast because I don't like playing too many games at the same time.

Oh yeah, and there's also Disgaea and Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor that I need to finish on the DS .. I'm almost done with Megaten though. AND on the Gameboy Advance, there's Pokémon FireRed [somehow my savefile deleted itself ..? so I gotta start all over again], Pokémon Ruby and Zelda Minish. Though, as I have already played those three games, they don't matter as much.

WHY OH WHY HAVE I NEGLECTED VIDEOGAMES FOR SO MANY YEARS? D: Ah well, I'm getting back on track~

/kazumi

Well.

What is it? A new beginning, maybe? In any case, here is my new blog, now full of ENGLISH GLORY. I was going to write something nice and long about myself, but then I realised : this isn't my style.

So, I'm a girl from Canada, where it starts snowing in October and doesn't stop until March. I'm a VOCALOID and video games addict, I like RPGs the most but Legend of Zelda is my favourite serie of all.

I'm currently studying in History, and I'll most likely go in East Asian Studies next year. Cause I'm an otaku and whatnot.

Anyway, I'll write mostly in english, but there's a chance that some entries will be in french. Why? Because québécois french is still the best language to rant in~
